Creative Use Examples

In addition to the traditional uses for websites for sharing information there are a variety of web applications and special sites that are popping up on web.unc.edu. A group of graduate students created an online journal where they accept and publish articles at http://virgule.web.unc.edu.

The summer reading program embedded a qualtrics survey on a web.unc.edu site to gather feedback from the campus community (http://srp2011.web.unc.edu/) and are looking at possibly moving their entire site over to web.unc.edu.

A graduate student set up a faculty poll and used the shibboleth authentication protocol to gather feedback for his master program.

The Peer Tutoring Program used the registration system to let students coordinate the times they were going to come in for interviews at http://peertutoringinterviews.web.unc.edu.

The Institute for the Study of the America’s is updating their website and needed a film database for people to browse their collection. They are using categories, tags, and posts to create this database at http://isafilm.web.unc.edu.
